The 6 branding red flags 🚩


An email subscriber replied to last week’s newsletter:

“hey Chef, how do I actually know if my brand is bland?”

That's… a great question.

There’s no single answer, but these 6 red flags are the most common signs that your brand strategy is unclear:

🚩 Lack of consistency. It always feels like you’re guessing when creating anything for your brand (website, social media post, etc.).
🚩 Same as competitors. Nothing about it really stands out – just another “standard brand” in your industry.
🚩 All work comes from referrals. And marketing has never really worked for you.
🚩 Logo from Fiverr. Or any designer/agency that doesn’t first understand your brand’s unique difference and vision.
🚩 Your homepage headline says nothing concrete. Just generic industry fluff.
🚩 Your copy is “cute” or “clever”. But it doesn’t really speak to your brand’s real difference.
