Your AI logo… sucks 🤦

Dear every small business with an AI-generated logo:

It sucks.

I know, I know… it has 58 different parts that may even look nicer than anything your local designer could throw together. But let me clue you in on a little secret...

come closer…

Designers don't make logos like that for a reason: they’re terrible logos!

AI-generated logos are:

Unoriginal - you think you're the only one getting that logo?
Nonsensical - you're not the only one that's confused by it.
Just plain weird - it just throws in random shit.

It’s important to remember what a logo is even for in the first place = to make people instantly recall your brand.
To instantly trigger the emotions your brand wants to evoke in them.
To stand out in their minds.

👎 Even “human logos” mostly suck

This is the real problem – and the reason why so many business owners get excited by the idea of AI-generated designs:

Most designers skip the strategy.

They jump straight into Illustrator and ask you what style you prefer. But style isn’t substance, and that’s why most logos don’t actually say anything of substance.

Before starting on your logo project, a strategic designer will learn:

❓ What makes your business different?
❓ What do your customers actually care about?
❓ What values do you want to communicate?

If your designer didn’t ask any of those questions, you’re probably stuck with a logo that’s all frosting, no cake.

🔑 3 keys to a logo that works

If your logo doesn’t check all three of these boxes, it’s not actually serving your business. It’s just a wasteful decoration.

Memorability: It should take 1 second to digest and stick out in your target audience’s mind.

Quickly do this…

1️⃣ Show your logo to someone who’s never seen it.
2️⃣ Take it away after 3 seconds.
3️⃣ Ask them to sketch what they remember.

If they can’t quickly recall the shape, icon, or feel of it – your audience can’t either.

Uniqueness: Not something that every other business in your industry is using.

Quickly do this…

1️⃣ Google “[your industry] logo” and click images
2️⃣ Scroll for 10 seconds.
3️⃣ Does yours blend in? Or break the pattern?

If your logo feels familiar, it’s forgettable.

Versatility: Works in black and white, on a billboard or a business card.

Quickly do this…
1️⃣ Shrink it down to 50px and see if it’s still legible.
2️⃣ Convert it to black & white — does it still work?

If your logo falls apart outside your website header… it's not ready for the real world.

A LOGO THAT WORKS IN EVERY SETTING

❓ Want a logo that works?

Here’s what most designers miss: design is not art.

Art is subjective. It’s expressive. It can be beautiful, weird, or abstract – and that’s fine for gallery walls.

But your logo is not art. It’s a tool that helps your best prospects instantly remember you.

And if your logo isn’t doing that… what’s it actually doing? Wasting the opportunity to stand out in your best prospects’ minds.

I have a few open slots for logo projects this August. If that sounds like something you’d be interested in exploring together, let’s have a quick chat to see if it’s a right fit:

P.S. A huge thank you to everyone who’s supported me on this journey – I recently was named “Local Business Person of the Year” in Greenlawn by Alignable.

I’m honored, humbled, and hungry to keep serving this community.

Beth Granger said “they need you to redesign that emblem,” and I think I agree.
